As we are now entering the beginning of what should be the new season I would like to take this opportunity to get some important information out to all our members and supporters regarding membership fees and training. During these unprecedented times the Covid-19 situation has changed the way we are able to take part in the sport but with safety measures in place, and support for all available we begin to think about how the new season will unfold.
Why should you be a member of Yeovil Rugby Club?
Yeovil Rugby Club, as its name signifies, is a membership-based organisation. It is a local amateur sports club that exists primarily to provide facilities for the sport of rugby. The provision of these facilities cost money. Membership fees exist for all participants to pay towards the costs of providing rugby at Yeovil Rugby Club. Members need to club together to reimburse the expenses of their collective rugby and social activities, whether playing, volunteering or spectating!
As the Club also aspires to develop and grow their participants and facilities, this creates an additional need for financial profits over and above its operating costs. The social facilities exist to provide an environment to encourage and facilitate interaction and collaboration between participants to promote and enhance rugby. They also exist to provide the Club with an additional revenue source, since the membership fees do not cover all the costs of providing and developing the sport. Other revenue streams include sponsorship, grants, donations, and the hiring of our facilities for non-rugby related activities; all of which are required, together with the Membership income, to pay our operating costs and to provide profits to invest in the Club’s future development.
All participants are required pay to support their activities associated with the Club.
Membership gives you an opportunity to invest in our Club personally; to enjoy being part of the organisation and the value it gives; to experience an increased sense of belonging and comradeship through the sport we love, in your local Club.
Community Rugby Road Map
We are moving in the right direction as the RFU recently announced the move to stage C of the return to rugby road map. Contact Rugby is not permitted whilst in Stage C, and will only return when we reach Stage F on the return to community Rugby Roadmap. All coaches are briefed regularly as to what is applicable and will be communicating to their teams as and when they are ready to return to training in adherence with RFU and Government guidelines. It is our hope that we move through these stages to enable a return to the competitive league structure.
YRC Sports Lottery
We are still running our monthly Lottery which gives you the chance to win a minimum of £100 for as little as £1 per week or £5 per Month. The lottery was initially set up to raise sufficient funds for ground rent and maintenance, although this no longer fulfils the full expenditure it does still help to increase our revenue and help towards these costs.
Your commitment to the lottery provides a regular income into the club and we urge all our members and supporters to get involved now. There is no commitment to an agreed length of time to pay into the lottery, and we simply allow you to set up a direct debit into the lottery account which can be cancelled at any time. For every £5 paid into the lottery account you will be allocated one number which will be placed in the prize draw at the end of the month. There is no limit to how many times you can enter.
The club lottery is not restricted to members only so please do spread the word and encourage as many Friends, Family and Work Mates to do likewise.
Your input will go a long way into ensuring the wellbeing of Yeovil RFC.
Once income is increased other prizes can be considered that in turn will, make the Lottery more attractive to enter.

Each month the statement is audited for subscribers prior to the draw and the “up to date list of Membership” is posted on the pillar to the left hand side of the bar.
Over the past couple of months considerable amounts of thought and discussion have taken place over the restructure of rates for memberships for the 2020/21 season. In agreement with the committee the new structure is laid out below.
- Men & Woman £120 per year with no match fees (can be paid in instalments)
- Mini & Youth, remains at £65 per season. Group discount for over 3 “immediate” family members will still apply
- Vice President (VP) to remain at £65
- Social Membership £25 -.However this category of membership will not carry voting rights.
v All club registered coaches will automatically receive social membership
v You cannot play rugby as an adult under social membership
v The membership year runs from 1st September to 31st August inclusive.

Here at the club we are always aware of the impact of the financial climate on our members. We would never want to turn people away from the club because the cost of membership is out of reach. If you think you may struggle to meet the cost of membership for you and your family, please get in touch with our membership secretary, who will be able to discuss alternative options with you in complete confidence.
