With our freedom to socialise and meet people being so restricted during the past 18 months and in a time of massive uncertainty, it’s important to focus on the things that we can still control. One of those things is our physical fitness and on Tuesday 13th July we welcome the return of our senior men’s squad as pre-season training starts. We can still train, we can still have fun and we can still be part of a team. Starting pre-season training slightly early than in a ‘normal’ year, and it is just as important now as we come out of restrictions to maintain our own physical health.
After a particularly hard year for the rugby club, training did take some stop/start moments to which we can all understand and now as we look forward to the new season we are excited to be offering pre-season training during the summer. YRC will once again support two senior men’s squads as they enter the leagues for the 2021/2022 season. Looking towards the start of the season numbers are strong for team selection within both the First and Second XV. Pre-season training provides players with an opportunity to improve their fitness ready for when games begin, along with practising and honing their rugby skills through personal dedication and commitment to training both at the club and away from the setting. During pre-season coaches plan sessions around fitness and the importance of strength training for minimising risk of injury and better recovery for when the season begins. Sessions generally contain a mix of fitness and strength training, along with skills sessions to begin work on play.
Pre season is open to all men aged 18+ within the local community, and our coaches are keen to welcome all current players, ex players, and new players to come along and train with them. So if you have ever fancied giving rugby a try, come along and join us
