Yeovil Women's 1st XV 14–29 Penryn | Weymouth Women 79–0 Yeovil Barbarians

It was a difficult weekend for Yeovil Rugby Club's women's section, with both teams facing challenging opposition and ultimately coming away without the results they had hoped for.

The Women's 1st XV welcomed Penryn to Yeovil, while the Barbarians travelled to Weymouth for what proved to be a particularly demanding afternoon.

While the scorelines weren't what anyone wanted, there is still plenty to recognise about the commitment of the players who pulled on the Yeovil shirt.

A Home Defeat, But Points on the Board

Yeovil Women's 1st XV welcomed Penryn to Church Lane, looking to build on their positive start to the league campaign.

Having already demonstrated their ability to compete with a bonus-point victory away at Crediton, the squad knew what they were capable of producing.

However, Penryn proved to be strong opposition, taking the victory with a final score of 29–14.

Yeovil managed to put 14 points on the scoreboard, but it wasn't enough to overcome the visitors.

There will undoubtedly be areas for the squad to reflect on as they prepare for their next fixture.

The challenge now is to take the lessons from this performance, return to training and continue developing the combinations, confidence and consistency needed to compete throughout the season.

One defeat doesn't define a team, and the women have already shown that they have the ability to deliver positive results.

The focus now turns to responding in the next game.

A Difficult Afternoon on the Road

For the Women's Barbarians, the trip to Weymouth proved to be an extremely tough challenge.

The hosts produced a commanding performance, running out 79–0 winners.

There is no disguising the disappointment of a result like that.

It is a difficult scoreline for any team to experience, and there will be plenty for the squad and coaching team to reflect upon.

But grassroots rugby is about more than the final score.

It's also about giving players opportunities to develop, gain experience, learn from difficult fixtures and continue improving.

Facing strong opposition can expose areas that need work, but those experiences can also become important parts of a team's development.

The important thing now is how the Barbarians respond.

Returning to training, supporting one another and continuing to build confidence will be essential as the season progresses.

Results like this are tough, but they don't have to define what comes next.

Building Strength Across the Women's Section

With two women's teams representing Yeovil Rugby Club, there is an opportunity to create a strong and sustainable pathway for players of different experience levels.

That development takes time, commitment and consistency.

There will be weekends when everything comes together and weekends when the challenges feel much greater.

What matters is continuing to work towards improvement.

Both teams now have an opportunity to reflect on their performances, identify the areas where progress is needed and prepare for the fixtures ahead.

The club wants to see its women's section competing confidently, developing players and building a positive future.

That requires hard work from everyone involved, both on and off the pitch.

Not the results we wanted, and certainly not the weekend either team had hoped for.

But the next opportunity to improve begins on the training pitch.

There is work to be done, lessons to be learned and plenty of rugby still to play this season.

To every player who represented Yeovil this weekend, thank you for your commitment.

We win together, we lose together and we move forward together.
