Yeovil Rugby Club is delighted to announce a very special player sponsorship for the 2026/27 season, with Alfie Oke proudly raising awareness for The Bridge for Heroes, thanks to the generosity of club supporter Andy Hoggarth.

This is a sponsorship with a difference. Rather than promoting a commercial business, Alfie's sponsorship is helping shine a spotlight on an organisation dedicated to supporting members of the Armed Forces community.

And there's an extra reason why this particular sponsorship deserves recognition.

Alfie Oke | Yeovil Men

Alfie Oke is part of Yeovil Rugby Club's senior men's squad, proudly representing the club in the black and white.

Already making his mark during the 2026/27 campaign, Alfie has contributed to Yeovil's performances on the pitch, including getting his name on the try-scoring sheet.

But it's his actions away from the pitch that make this sponsorship particularly special.

When club supporter Andy Hoggarth generously offered to sponsor Alfie, his playing membership had already been paid.

Rather than accept a refund or personally benefit from the sponsorship, Alfie chose to donate the equivalent amount to The Bridge for Heroes.

It's a fantastic gesture and one that reflects the values of generosity, respect and community that we are proud to promote at Yeovil Rugby Club.

The Bridge for Heroes – Wounds Are Not Always Visible

The Bridge for Heroes is a charity dedicated to supporting serving members of the Armed Forces, veterans and their families.

For many people, the challenges associated with military service don't simply end when they leave the Armed Forces.

Some injuries are physical and immediately apparent. Others, including the emotional and psychological effects of service, may be much harder to recognise.

That's why the charity's message is so important:

"Wounds Are Not Always Visible."

The Bridge for Heroes works to provide a welcoming and supportive environment where members of the Armed Forces community can access practical help, companionship and opportunities to connect with others who understand their experiences.

Its work helps tackle isolation, promote wellbeing and ensure that those who have served are not left facing life's challenges alone.

By using his sponsorship to raise awareness of this organisation, Alfie is helping bring an important message to the wider Yeovil Rugby Club community.

A Special Thank You to Andy Hoggarth

This sponsorship has been made possible through the kindness and generosity of Andy Hoggarth, a friend and supporter of Yeovil Rugby Club.

Andy has chosen to use player sponsorship as an opportunity to support both grassroots rugby and charitable causes.

His generosity, combined with Alfie's decision to donate the membership money, has turned a traditional player sponsorship into something with an even greater purpose.

It's a wonderful example of how a rugby club can bring people together to make a positive difference beyond the touchlines.

More Than Just Rugby

At Yeovil Rugby Club, we often talk about the importance of teamwork, loyalty and looking after one another.

Those values don't stop when the final whistle blows.

Through partnerships like this, we can use our platform to highlight important causes, encourage conversations and introduce our members and supporters to organisations doing vital work.

We are incredibly proud to see Alfie and Andy using the Player Sponsorship programme in such a meaningful way.

Thank You, Alfie and Andy!

Everyone at Yeovil Rugby Club would like to extend a huge thank you to Andy Hoggarth for his generous sponsorship and to Alfie Oke for choosing to support The Bridge for Heroes.

Your kindness and generosity are a reminder that sometimes the biggest contributions we make have nothing to do with what happens on the rugby pitch.

We wish Alfie every success for the remainder of the 2026/27 season and hope this sponsorship helps raise valuable awareness of the support available to our Armed Forces community.
