Two teams. Two victories. One fantastic Saturday for Yeovil Rugby Club!
What a weekend for the Pigs!
Yeovil's senior men delivered a brilliant double victory, with the 1st XV producing a tremendous second-half comeback away at Weymouth & Portland, while the Barbarians battled their way to a hard-fought home victory against Morganians.
With tries across both squads, two senior debuts and some outstanding individual performances, there was plenty to celebrate.
And perhaps most encouragingly, the positive atmosphere surrounding the senior section is continuing to translate into results.
Weymouth & Portland 21 β 57 Yeovil 1st XV
A Second-Half Fightback to Remember!
Yeovil travelled to Weymouth & Portland looking to bounce back from their narrow defeat against Wimborne II the previous weekend.
After opening their league campaign with a 34β27 victory against North Dorset II, followed by a frustrating 27β23 defeat to Wimborne, the 1st XV were determined to return to winning ways.
But things didn't go entirely to plan.
Yeovil found themselves trailing at half-time.
Having shown so much promise in their opening fixtures, the visitors had work to do if they were going to turn the afternoon around.
Whatever was said during the half-time team talk certainly had the desired effect!
Yeovil emerged for the second half with renewed determination, intensity and attacking ambition.
The side that returned to the pitch was fierce.
The forwards provided the platform, the backs found their attacking rhythm and Yeovil began to demonstrate the dynamic rugby that the coaching team has been working so hard to develop.
Suddenly, the momentum was firmly with the visitors.
And once Yeovil got going, there was no looking back.
The result was an outstanding 57β21 away victory, with Yeovil turning a half-time deficit into a commanding win.
Tries Across the Squad!
Yeovil's attacking display saw tries from:
π Ollie Holloway β Available to sponsor
π Sam Bryant β Sponsored by Jones Building Group
π Josh Docherty β Sponsored by Wessex Electricals
π Darren Pointer β Sponsored by Churchill's Home and Garden Improvements
π― Adam ClaysonΒ and Harry Froude were those adding the extras.
It was particularly pleasing to see Ollie Holloway continue his scoring form.
After an impressive hat-trick for the Barbarians against Hornets IV the previous weekend, Ollie earned his place in the 1st XV squad through his performances and commitment at training.
And he wasted little time making his mark at the next level!
It's exactly the sort of progression the club wants to encourage, with players working hard, taking their opportunities and earning recognition.
The attacking contributions of Sam Bryant, Josh Docherty and Darren Pointer also demonstrated the options available throughout the squad.
Players of the Match
Back of the Match β Danny Anderson
Proudly sponsored by Morson Edge.
A Napoleonic effort from Danny!
There might not be much height in those legs, but there was certainly plenty of determination, energy and commitment on display.
An excellent recognition for a player who continues to give everything for the shirt.
Forward of the Match β Brandon Brown
Proudly sponsored by Betty's Burgers.
Brandon continues to establish himself as an important part of Yeovil's forward pack.
With the front row becoming an increasingly formidable unit, his contribution to the team's physical performance deserves recognition.
A fantastic afternoon for both players.
A Special Milestone β Frankie Tate's 1st XV Debut
Among the celebrations was a particularly proud moment for 18-year-old Frankie Tate, who made his senior 1st XV debut.
Frankie has been part of the Yeovil Rugby Club family since he was just five years old.
From Mini Rugby, through the junior age groups and into senior rugby, his journey is exactly what grassroots clubs work so hard to create.
After spending a short period away last season while Colts numbers were low, Frankie returned to Yeovil as soon as he was eligible to play senior rugby.
Now, after growing up wearing the Yeovil shirt, he has achieved the milestone of representing the 1st XV.
From Mini Rugby to the First XV. What an achievement!
Congratulations, Frankie. The whole club is proud of you.
A Statement Away From Home
There is something particularly satisfying about winning away from home.
But to find yourselves behind at half-time and respond with such determination makes this result even more impressive.
The coaching team's influence is becoming increasingly evident, with players demonstrating greater confidence, stronger attacking phases and the ability to respond when things aren't going their way.
Three league fixtures, two victories and plenty of reasons to be excited about what comes next.
Yeovil Barbarians 27 β 22 Morganians
The Barbs Have a Blinder at Home!
While the 1st XV were busy making their mark on the coast, the Yeovil Barbarians were involved in an absolute battle back at Church Lane.
Following their emphatic victory over Hornets IV the previous weekend, the Barbs returned home full of confidence.
But Morganians weren't going to make things easy.
What followed was a closely contested encounter, with both teams battling for the advantage and neither side willing to give an inch.
This was a different challenge from the previous weekend.
Where the Hornets game had allowed Yeovil's attacking players to run riot, Morganians demanded resilience, discipline and a willingness to keep fighting.
And the Barbarians delivered.
Harry Bartin Steals the Show!
One of the standout performances came from Harry Bartin, who produced a superb hat-trick of tries.
After making his 1st XV debut the previous weekend, Harry returned to the Barbarians wearing the number seven shirt.
And what a performance from the young openside flanker!
The number seven role demands enormous work rate, physicality and determination. Openside flankers are expected to compete at the breakdown, make tackles, support attacking phases and constantly put pressure on the opposition.
Harry added something else to that list this weekend.
Three tries!
A fantastic achievement and another indication of the potential this player is beginning to show.
Harry is proudly sponsored by MJB Maintenance Services.
Broadhurst at the Double!
Not to be outdone, Alfie Broadhurst also enjoyed an excellent afternoon, crossing the whitewash twice.
Alfie continues to demonstrate his commitment to his home club, regularly making the journey from Plymouth to represent Yeovil.
That commitment was rewarded with a brilliant two-try performance.
Five tries between Harry and Alfie gave Yeovil the attacking edge they needed.
Barbarians try scorers:

π Alfie Broadhurst x2 β Available to sponsor
π― James Fay β Adding the conversions.
With the score finishing 27β22, the Barbarians secured a well-earned victory in front of their home supporters.
Players of the Match
Back of the Match β Alfie Broadhurst
Always a pleasure to have this talented player back in a Yeovil shirt.
Alfie's commitment to the club is clear, and his two-try performance was a fantastic reward for the effort he continues to put in.
Forward of the Match β Ryse Hutchings
Another player whose development deserves recognition.
Ryse continues to improve week after week, with the hard work being put in at training beginning to pay off on the pitch.
A well-deserved award and a great example of the progress being made throughout the Barbarians squad.
Another Debut β Welcome to the Yeovil Family, Ridi Agbuke!
Saturday also marked a special milestone for Ridi Agbuke, who made his Barbarians debut.
Unlike Frankie Tate, whose rugby journey began at Yeovil aged five, Ridi's story is only just beginning.
Having recently moved to the area, Ridi decided to give rugby a go and joined Yeovil Rugby Club.
Completely new to the sport, he has thrown himself into the challenge, embraced the team spirit and now made his first appearance for the Barbarians.
Two players, two completely different journeys, but both now part of the Yeovil Rugby Club story.
It's a wonderful reminder that grassroots rugby has a place for everyone.
Whether you've played since childhood or have never picked up a rugby ball before, there's always an opportunity to get involved.
Congratulations, Ridi. Welcome to the team!
The Barbarians Keep Building
This was another important result for the Barbarians.
After last weekend's dominant attacking display, Saturday demanded a different kind of performance.
And they proved they could deliver both.
The squad is growing, competition for places is increasing and the positive atmosphere surrounding the team is becoming increasingly noticeable.
The work of coaches Henry Guy and Terry Guy is helping to develop a side with growing confidence and a strong team spirit.
Back-to-back victories are a fantastic reward for everyone involved.
Two Teams, One Club, One Direction
What makes this weekend particularly encouraging isn't simply the two victories.
It's what those victories represent.
The 1st XV showed they have the character to recover from a difficult first half and turn a game around in emphatic fashion.
The Barbarians demonstrated that they can follow a dominant win with a determined performance in a much tighter contest.
Players are progressing between the two teams, young talent is getting opportunities, new players are joining and those who have been part of the club for years are continuing to show their commitment.
With Frankie Tate and Ridi Agbuke making their debuts, and players such as Ollie Holloway and Harry Bartin demonstrating their potential, the pathway through Yeovil's senior section is looking increasingly promising.
And with growing numbers at training, the future is looking bright.

What a Saturday for Yeovil!
Weymouth & Portland 21 β 57 Yeovil 1st XV
Yeovil Barbarians 27 β 22 Morganians
Two victories. Two debuts. A hat-trick. Plenty of tries. And a whole lot of pride in the Yeovil shirt.
The numbers are growing, the confidence is building and the results are starting to reflect the hard work taking place behind the scenes.
The Pigs are finding their feet β and they're beginning to make some noise!
