As the national lockdown takes hold the women at Yeovil Rugby club are continuing to improve moral with a host of challenges this January. Since the first National lockdown the women have stayed strong together, building a new bonded virtual life embracing restrictions and supporting each other as ever before. This team have grown incredible during the past 9 months and are continuing to support each other at every opportunity.
As the first National lock down took hold, the women rallied together to hold online quizzes and bingo, taking it in turn to host or organise. Getting together weekly gave a sense of team morale which has helped knit the women together as friends and team mates.

Along the way the women have had to adapt and conform to restrictions, training within RFU and government guidelines, which have been plentiful and changing during the year. But this hasn’t stopped the women from training or from encouraging each other to stay fit and strong, not only for the team but for themselves. The women have also organised their own challenges and recently took part in a team and supporters Rugby Bake Off during the November lockdown.
Now the women are taking on a new January Challenge and are inviting all the Yeovil Women players and supporters to get involved and push themselves during this time. Excitingly they have also adapted the senior women’s challenge to offer a similar feat for the girls within the age grade teams at the club. This lockdown may have only just started but Yeovil Women are hitting it face on, inevitably keeping all those involved keeping busy with some fitness along the way, and when games finally return these women should hit the ground running.

Picking up on the immense togetherness of our womens team, local radio Abbey104’s sports show featured the challenge to their network of listners and the Western Gazette covered the story too. Having an active and inclusive womens team within the club pushing both their individual and team performance and progress has been an inspiring concept to our community.
Our women and girls are on to day 12 of their 30 day challenge and it’s not too late to join us if you would like to. At nearly 2 weeks in why not half the challenge and join us for the final 2 weeks? For more details head over to Facebook and follow @YeovilRugbyWomen
Our Womens Team Recurintment never stops with two potential new players already joining in the challenge and being part of the virtual team’
