What is the Yeovil Rugby Club Patrons Lottery all about?
Following the formation of the Ivel Barbarians Development Committee during the late Nineties there was a stated aim to identify and provide a Clubhouse, and playing facilities, in line with the Club’s ambitions. Funding was established through various sources and methods to pay for what we see, and use, today but it was also identified that running costs would be an ongoing financial obligation to our landlords etc.
The idea of a Patrons Scheme was established where Club Members, Supporters, Friends etc. could donate a small sum, a minimum of £1 per week, whereupon each month a draw would be made for a cash prize. The profits of the fund were then “ring-fenced” into a separate account with the aim being to raise sufficient funds for ground rent & maintenance. Rising costs of ground rent and maintenance have a considerable impact on the Club and its finances.
The scheme is still in existence today with around 95 people regularly taking part. However the Membership has been static for several years due to low sign-up by new members and has not been sold or promoted to great effect, therefore the Former Players Association has agreed to take responsibility for the management of the Scheme which is now known as the Yeovil Rugby Club Patrons Lottery.
Our initial aim is to increase Membership to at least 400 people paying the minimum cost of £1 per week, paid by Standing Order. If you wish to contribute more, that would be very welcome and by doing so you will have more entries into the monthly draw and help to contribute to the running costs of our Club.
We, as your Club Committee, are asking each of you to recruit at least 4 people (including yourself if you are able) to take part and support our Club. A Standing Order mandate is available from the Club for that purpose. Alternatively you can use the information on the mandate to set up a Standing Order on your electronic Banking Device. The mandate provides you with the account details. The account is in the process of being changed to Yeovil Rugby Club.
